2019 New school vision and values - consultation
* Please let us know your thoughts and comments by returning the slip sent out through the children by Wednesday 5th June.
Our vision is centred on our Christian belief that we are all children of God, much loved and cherished by Him. We are individuals bringing uniqueness and diversity to God’s family and also to our school community. We believe that the Christian family is one body together, made up of many different parts, ‘the Body of Christ.’ Together we will all fit together using our individual gifts and personalities to make big differences to our lives and to the lives of others. This belief underpins all that happens at Necton and all that shines out from our community upon the rest of the world.
We have reflected and agreed on what is important for the Vision at Necton Church of England Primary school. This parable from the Gospel of Matthew helps us to understand how our vision for education is rooted in the bible:
The parable of the mustard seed is as follows…
"The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field; which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches."
— Matthew 13:31–32
BELONG: Our school is for everyone and we are proud to be a holistic and inclusive community. Each person is encouraged and challenged to develop and grow their unique set of gifts and talents. We are mindful that we are preparing children for the future of tomorrow but in the context of Necton, Norfolk and the wider national and global communities.
BELIEVE: We each come together with different personal beliefs; we work and live together through a shared understanding of our school vision and the Gospel values; we believe that every person is made in the image of God, and is loved and cherished. These beliefs equip children to think, challenge and act with imagination and respect based on a strong ethical foundation.
THRIVE: Just as, in the parable of the mustard seed, the farmers nourished their fields so that they grew strong crops, we nourish and guide our children to flourish and reach their potential both now and in the future: through a rich curriculum, diverse experiences and a holistic approach to life. These help them to thrive encompassing daily experiences of forgiveness, joy, aspiration, care, hope and positivity.
ACHIEVE: Our children develop as confident individuals who can reflect, explore and articulate the wisdom, knowledge and skills that they acquire during their time with us. As a result, children can reason and debate about different issues and concepts, they can find their own innovative solutions to problems and can then transform their lives and that of others. This means that they are well equipped for today’s modern world and that of the future, both academically and spiritually. Our school community nurtures children to believe in themselves, explore their spirituality and know that they are capable of a great many things.
